GATE is an acronym for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering which is one of the most competitive and sought examinations in which over 9 lakh participants fight to form a part of the most capable engineers in the country. The qualifying percentile is as drastic as 16% or about 1.3 lakh of these aspirants which itself makes the qualifiers deem their honor.  Despite GATE being a national level exam, its scores are considered in handful yet prestigious colleges in Singapore and Germany.

Universities in Singapore:

There are 2  universities in Singapore namely  Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and National University of Singapore (NUS) which are both top Universities in Asia and hence require elite students with a 90% cut-off. The GATE score is valid for about 3 years. Courses in NUS/NTU are divided into Coursework based (Masters/Bachelors program only) and Research based (Masters/Doctoral).

Universities in Germany:

Germany has 2 universities, Technical University of Germany and the RWTH ACHEN which can be applied through GATE score. On the basis of research, TU Munich is a well-reputed university and instills pride with a few laureates. The RWTH Aachen forms a part of IDEA league and has collaboration with Imperial College London, TU Delft, ETH Zürich, and Paris Tech universities of the IDEA league.

Universities in Germany require an English Proficiency test like GRE which adds extra credentials to one’s application. The average tuition fee per semester is 500 euro. The Singapore University has a student-friendly online application procedure. Beware of the date of application submissions as the GATE results may cause dismay. The university charges a fee ranging from 3 lakh to 5 lakh per semester.
